scouts

Many of you know that I am in Scouts. Well last night we had a Pack meeting. It was supposed to be a little more than the ordinary meeting as one of our boys was getting their Arrow of Light and that comes with it's own ceremony. We (the committee) decided to order a cake with the Arrow of Light badge printed on top. So I was given the task to order this cake. I did. All was well, I picked up the cake yesterday. It was a beautiful cake. Then had done well on it. I brought it home and set it on the counter. A few hours later, I decided I needed a nap. (Haven't been sleeping due to Robert's schedule/and health lately) So I asked Brynlee to watch Alexa as she had been getting into everything lately. I had no sooner walked back to my bedroom and laid down then I heard a crash and Brynlee yell, MOM in a worried voice. I knew it instantly. The CAKE.

Yup you guessed it. Alexa had climed up on the counter and knocked the cake off onto the floor, out of the box, UPSIDE down. Of course, on my filthy, needs to be mopped floor!! I was so angry, everyone was bannished from my sight to the basement for a long while. I was even to angry to clean it up. I called Robert in a panic about what I was going to do for the meeting that night. He was on his way home from work anyway, so he came and cleaned it up and we left for Winco to see what substitute we could come up with. We found something suitable, but no where near as cool as what we had. I didn't even let the kids eat it, (the ruined cake) but this is what it now looks like.

kids

So I never realized what a difference an older sibling makes untill I had kids. With the two girls born first it was great. They played together well, and the toys were alot of fun. And don't forget the fun I had with dressing them up. Then came Ian, my first son. He has quite an artistic flare, it's rooted in his personality. It's who he is. BUT and this, I think, is huge as well, He plays with his sister Jade all the time. And they played HER WAY! so he is a pro at all pretend play. Brock came along and took right to all the boy toys and he and Ian together are quite the little 'team' when they play together. It's funny. Jade is over the top feminine and Brock is very rough and tough boy. I think it is from the influence of their older siblings. It's also their personality and it's in-grained in them, but I think the influence that is always there, never ceasing, has made an affect. Now we get to Alexa. She is very, very girly and the older girls love to have her around and play with her. She absolutly adores them. But she has the influence of her older brothers as well, so we have quite the mix with her. So hence the picture below. Alexa has a doll stroller, doll playpen and more. But what is her 'stroller' of choice? Well, naturally -a DUMP TRUCK!! haha. I got a huge kick out of this. Also, she found this baby bottle nipple, (I have no idea where or how!) She thinks the way to use this is to put it upside down on the baby's face, too funny!!

News

Well, I guess the gig is up. I am announcing that we are having a new arrival coming to our house, Yup, you guessed it we're having a baby -due in October. #6 for us. I'm still sick most of the time. The kids are ecstatic. This was a tough decision for us to make. But one that is exciting. We felt overwhelmed by the Lord in the promptings we recieved in deciding to have this baby. So now, I hope all goes well. The kids are constantly talking about if it's a boy or a girl or what the name should be. It's kind of fun. Also, the gig is up because Ian was home sick from Church yesterday, and I stayed with him. Well, When the kids came home they told me all the people that they told, so I guess the word is getting out!! My cousin announced that she was pregnant on her blog and I noticed we have the same widget!! Congratulations Ashley, looks like we're due about the same time!!

birthday

Don't you just love the "what's going on?, look to her face?" this is her face she makes when she's trying to figure things out.

Little miss Alexa turned 2 yesterday. It's official. She's a busy little girl. Not so much baby now. She is such a sweetie, sometimes. My Mom gave her a Jack -in -the -box. It was one with Curious George. Oh, my goodness, it was funny. She was startled at the monkey popping up, she slightly jumped, blinked, looked at me and said, "It's George", it was really quite funny. She also, was digging the clothes, immedietly taking off her own and saying "it's pretty, it's pretty" way cute!!

She is not quite sure what to think of the birthday song, and cake, Oh, ignore the candles, this busy mom didn't get real birthday candles bought! (I forgot) so We improvised.
Robert decorated this cake. I forgot the black icing too, so this Winnie the Pooh is a bit weird!

shopping?

Well, today is the requisite trip to the grocery store. I seem to be dreading this trip. I have put it off untill it can't be procrastinated any longer. I am going to make a list and go. Brock and Alexa are getting big to take to the store and I am always worn out the day I have to take them. SO I'm not looking forward to it. But it has to be done. They probably aren't bad I just don't like to be interupted and I tend to 'Zone' in the store. Thinking about product and prices. I don't want to miss anything as I don't want to go back. But I end up being short on patience at the end of this trip. I also am a little worried about how high the food prices have risen. SO I will see for myself today-how bad it really is.but I gotta get going I want to get in and out of the store before nap time!

Police or the DR's?

Yesterday, I went to the DR.'s office to pick up more meds for my Hubby. As I left the office and got in my car, a sedan pulled up next to me and it was full of people. 3 adults and several small children. All without seat belts. Now I normally wouldn't think to much about it. But the Husband in the front seat pulled out a half-gone bottle of Corona Beer and proceeded to swig it. Then the wife grabbed it and took her fill, then the husband again. While doing this, they turned to me and laughed and hollered! I backed out of the parking spot and then the grandma got out of the back seat and laughed at me as well, when I left. I felt really conflicted. I wasn't sure what to do. It seemed so negligent. It was brazen. And I know this part sounds dumb but only 11:30 am. With kids in the car!! So I pulled out my cell phone and called the DR.'s office and told them what I saw. These people were walking in to the office at this point. The whole time I had this fear of what if I was mistaken? What if it's not beer? Maybe, that's why they were laughing at me? Maybe I was just a trouble maker? But who drives around with a beer bottle with something else in it? I didn't know if the police would do anything, since they were no longer in the road. But I figured the Dr.'s office has a legal responsibility since they were notified and they would figure out weather they were drunk or what. who knows!! anyway, glad it's not my life style..........

Time change?

Robert still has a bad cough. So yesterday I took the kiddos to church by myself. No easy feat in itself! Anyway, We got there about 10 minutes to, I wanted some time to calm Brock down before Sunbeams, and we were on schedule to do that. In the hallway, on the way to the Primary room, a man in the ward that we know quite well paused and kind of gave me a funny look and then a little half smile, I thought (oh, my vainess!!) Wow, I loook so good today he noticed. (I was feeling especially proud of my hair!) and I continued on my way. Well, we get to the primary room and I quickly realized that I was not 10 minutes early, But 1 hour late. WE forgot Daylight Saving Time. I know, so stupid. I actually have never forgot before. But I will always remember this sunday. I can't believe I thought that someone else noticed me, and then to realized that it was my 1 hour lateness that was being smirked at! :) The day really didn't get any better from there. But we did make it througth the remaining 2 hours.

spring?

I am excited, there is a hint of spring in the air. I can't decide what is actually making me think this, other than the light has changed. It is more clear; it seems brighter and stronger. I have become a bit of a light freak since I had so many years living in caves, uhmmm, I mean apartments. HAHA! anyway, it gives me new energy, and excitment to think of spring. I don't like how early Easter is. I like it when it falls in mid April or at least around the 10th. Anyway, enjoy your day ,-all!!

2 things I learned ..................

I had a very enlightening weekend. I learned some not so cool facts about myself.

1. I have become a terrible, whiney, sick person. I am not sure when this happened, but I am now ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE. I really tried not to whine, I thought I could be strong, but I wished I was dead on Saturday. It was a rough day, on the 'up' side.

2. I learned that my husband makes an awesome Nurse. HE puts me to shame. Who knew he would be so great at taking care of a house of sickies? (he has always helped before, but I was always around for instruction :) ). He deserves a gold star!

So we are now officially on the road to recovery. I hope it's a short one.
