The boy's new bed

So by popular demand (Ashly) I present the boys' new bed!

They love this. It is a bit massive but they love it anyway! The bed at the bottom of the picture is a trundle bed, it will push under the entire unit. There is a desk that pulls out, it is above the 2 drawers that are on the left side. (you have to push the bed in to use the desk) The dresser is handy as well. It is nice to get rid of one of the dressers in this room and use this unit! The little door that is open on the right side is the door to the cubby room in the back. It goes all the way through to the other side.

This is the view of the 'playroom'. The kids are in this constantly.
It looks like the bed is in the cornor of the room but it is centered on the wall so the kids can use both doors to the playhouse! I think even the big girls have been playing in this...
Thank you Gina for this-it truly is a find!!

Jade's new hair

so after much drama this weekend Jade got her hair cut. It's super cute. But oh, the drama. Actually I'm glad she cares about her appearance, it's better than the yucky hair of some of her peers who have yet to care, but I digress. On Saturday Jade came and asked if she could get her hair cut. I said, what do you want? and she tells me she wants some layers in it. I said, well we better go to someone who cuts hair then, so it will look nice.(because I can't do that) and she says who. So we discussed our options. But then Jade couldn't get a hold of them on the phone, and wanted it done NOW so she asked me to cut it into a bob. I said no. That she reallly needed to go to someone who knew what was up.

Well, then she starts crying and telling me that she just wants it chopped off and that I ALWAYS (don't you just love the use of this word in kids!) make her wait. So again we went over this. Lots of Drama and crying over the weekend, but Finally on Sunday we make an appointment for her to get her hair cut on Monday. Monday comes and what do you know, I made the appointment for the busiest time of day and I forgot about it until Jade came home and said we gotta go to the appointment. SO I throw the kids in the car and take Jade to Ashley's house. Poor Ashley, I drive up, walk Jade in, Tell Ashley to give her whatever she wants and that Jade can walk home. I'm a little bit falling apart. I've got crying kids in the car, and Brynlee needed picked up from band, and all I can think about is getting a vacation with a VAT of Diet Coke. And yes, I said a VAT for that is what I would need for some R and R. Jade came home and it really did turn out ok. Ashley was amazing (as usual) (Ashley, I'm sorry I was so unorganized and Brynlee wants her hair cut now, so will you email me your phone number?) anyway, Jade's hair is cute and what do you know, She's a happy little girl now, she was pleasant all evening and thrilled to do whatever I asked. She was even willing to work on her Faith in GOd, I think I need to get her hair done more often! I guess, she's not to far off, That's always how I feel when I get my hair done!! anyway, take a few looks at her new coif!!

I love it that it is cute and trendy and appropriate for a 10 year old.!!

Good Work -Ashley and Jade, (Ashley she was so thrilled you used Hair spray AND a curling iron) That's ok, she is using it now and always asking me to do it for her! :)

birthday's and stuff!

Well, we're into the planning stages of a birthday party for the newest 12 year old in house! It's gonna be an abreviated version of a spa party. We're doing manicures and a chocolate fountain. And the girls are making hair clips and chapstick/lipgloss. I hope they have fun. I am actually really excited for this party, That's a new thing for me. I usually dread these things. But Brynlee is getting old enough that I'm really happy to do it. I will post the pictures of the party when it happens. It's not for awhile yet but the shopping is almost done for it! I have to print invitations out today. I hope it's worth it! :)

otherwise we've got nothing new here. We're into the blah's of Winter and January in Idaho. It's getting pretty grey...I hate that. I hate the grey weather. I can handle it better if the snow didn't turn brown. That's when it's horrible because otherwise the snow reflects the light so it's brighter. But I console myself with planning my garden, already! I fell like I have to be prepared since the growing season here is so short we had less than 4 months last year with out snow! Yup, I kept track. So I won't be caught off guard this year-My Salsa is already being planned so I won't miss it!!

sure, why not?

Today is one of those mornings. I have a massive headache, with lots of painkillers going on. The house is running amuck and I've barely taken care of the baby. So when Brock and Alexa start to fight I'm grumpy about breaking it up. Brock asked to play the Wii-sure why not, Alexa wants to run naked-why not? the kids right now are in heaven. They were hungry, and we had left over key lime pie from family home evening, so ....you guessed it-WHY NOT? Because two forks and and empty pie plate = 2 happy kids! And a Happy Mom. SO go and have yourself a WHY NOT? kinda day! :)

first 2009 post!

HAPPY NEW YEAR -EVERYONE!!

(sorry this is a picture of a picture-we don't have a digital format of it and I didn't want to scan it in) It's us on the big day- December 28, 1995

It's been an exciting month. Robert and I celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary. It was fun going out with him. I love having history with Robert. It's my favorite part of being married. It's fun to be able to say remember when...and have him know exactly what I'm talking about. When we got married we really didn't have any history together. (we didn't date that long) And he asked me at one point right after we were married if I wished for something that I didn't have and my answer to him was-History!! I wanted to have that with him. I am just starting to feel like we have it now. You know when you first get married and you go through this transition in your thought process, in how you think of yourself? single vs. married? Well, I did get through that process like the rest of you, but it seems like being single was just yesterday for me. I could still remember everything like it had just happened. -I know I have six kids, -just stay with me here, And this year was the first year that being single seems like a long time ago. It feels like I have that 'history' of being married. I don't constantly remember pre-baby days. Now be careful what you wish for because now that I have that history it is a little scary to realize that I have been a mother for 12 years! But on the other hand. I think (call me crazy) it's getting funner and funner the older my kids get. I love that my girls are getting to be teenagers and preteen age. They have alot more interesting insights and things to say. I love watching the younger and the older kids interact. It's a great dynamic and a new dimension to our family that we didn't have before. Now don't get me wrong. The kids are normal kids. They fight and bicker. They can sometimes be selfish, but they are also loving and kind. And on some days they interact so great that I wonder what I was worried about before!! This Christmas break has been kind of fabulous. It seems like our world has been crazy hectic since before Gavin was even born. I had the longest, emotionally hardest and physically hardest pregnancy known to me! I felt like I was on the constant go. It was one catastrophe after another at our house. Either medical crisis or financial (Robert took a pay cut in the beginning of December, due to the current economic situation of the country. We are grateful that he is still in a job as they have been laying off at his company as well) Also, just plain business with activities that come with a big family, (I always say that with a big sigh, I never envisioned this, even though I am very satisfied with my life :) ) This Christmas break seems idyllic in some ways. Not many places to go and lots of time with the kiddos to hang out and enjoy things. We are enjoying our time together. I was kind of dreading the season but now that we're in it I am enjoying the time. I am excited for the New Year! I don't really believe in Resolutions but I am still hopeful for this next year. I feel like we have good things to come! I wish that feeling meant that I thought that things would be hunky-dorey, but I feels more like it will just be ok and that whatever happens we will be able to handle it. Last year at New Year's I had this strong sense that the year would be tough- I was right. But hopefully we have grown from our trials, Hopefully we have been graceful under pressure. Hopefully we taught our children good tactics for tough times. That things will continue to change, grow and life moves on. But you have a choice in your attitude. That is a constant thing. -Now I am officially stepping off my soap box- I kind of get caught rambling on this site. But I get so carried away sometimes. I meant to just say that our Christmas was wonderful and I'm feeling grateful and blessed this season. We're very hopeful for the coming year. May the Saviour fill your life with goodness and blessings and may you all be humble enough to accept the lessons set before you!!
