pregnancy

So the uncomfortable part of pregnancy has hit this last weekend. Canckles-yes, you read that right-you know, the swollen leg, from the knee down. It has been slowly creeping up, but this last weekend I guess my poor veins had had enough!! so now my feet resemble sausages (or at least my toes do!) The up side (if there is one) is that now my skin is so shiny and tight that you can't see how bad my vericose veins are!! Which I'm sure is the culprit behind the pesky water issue. I actually have done this the last 4 pregnancies, not fun. but expected-by me. Not my DR. At my most recent appointment the PA saw my edema in all it's glory and checked for pitting. She couldn't stop playing with my shin bone and all the designs that she could make. She was a little horrified I might add. She has had one child but she is a tiny little piece of humanity and I can't imagine her carrying much water- I saw her pregnant. She wasn't swollen. at one of my last appointments she mentioned that she didn't have varicose veins either. so I don't think she sees much of this. anyway I digress. she was now 'concerned' and I was rushed to the lab for blood work. sent to the hospital to have labs done there. which I know is pretty normal for me. The tests are back and they are 'normal' so we are back to square one. or at least square canckles. I do have an ultrasound next week. I will be seeing the Doc this time and that is a comfort. But I am not sure what the ultrasound is supposed to do for me. If this kid really is big as they think, there isn't much they can do about it. I know. I've been through this with 4 different Dr.'s There isn't really anything they can do about it. So I guess we'll see what happens next. Wish me luck!!

First day of School

The kids are off to their first day of school today. I couldn't be happier, quite frankly. My kids all love school. It's definitly not a fight to get them to go. They pretty much love everything about it. So that makes it so easy. I love the automatic schedule that comes to our home. The deadlines and what not. It can get crazy and hectic, and usually by spring I'm ready to have them home, But this year, this fall, I'm ready for school.

Last night they all had their clothes ready and we re-checked the backpacks, and all was ready! I know that this interest might wear off, but for now it is nice, and I am enjoying it. Actually, Brynlee will continue to plan like mad, Jade will be sporadic and more relaxed and Ian probably won't do anything without any encouragement. I don't mind, but it is interesting to see how each off them deal with the school thing. The little kids were great as well. The fight is coming, (the one where they realize they aren't going anywhere when the kids leave) It will happen later this week. Robert takes the kids to their first day of school. (that's become our tradition, it also works very well for me this year!) So he had Brock and Alexa tag along and they were very happy with that. But I'm sure tomorrow will be a differant story. Now I'm off to enjoy my QUIET house!! :-)

around our house lately

I know it's been awhile, I have felt busy, busy. We are ready for school and we have scouts up and running for the fall. We took the month of July off and it kind of feels like it was 6 months in a sense, but Lisa and I had a major planning session and we've pretty much hammered out our activities to the end of the year- yhew!! The weather has been all over the place. Hot some days and cool the next. It has a definite feel of fall coming. So I guess I am finally feeling like fall CAN come. Maybe I will be ready!!

*Alexa has some cute moments latley, if you were to ask her where her tickles are and she will lift her arm and point to her armpit and say -- right der!! (there)

*She tells me on a regular basis that she has a kitty in her tummy! (whereas I only have a baby)

*She also tells me she doesn't play with 'babies' anymore, they are DOLLS.

*I found her, in her room rummaging through my purse, she heard me coming, so she was in the process of stuffing everything back in. She turned to me and yelled, "Mom, it's yours" while shoving it in my hands and running off.

On another note, this weekend we are heading off to Salt Lake for CRSA's annual family party/BBQ. the kids are ecstatic. I'm a little worried about the trip. I don't travel that well these days. So hopefully it will be uneventful. I'm looking forward to 'letting' Robert take the kiddos down to the pool while I hang out ALONE in the hotel room.!! I know, so boring, but it sounds so GREAT!!

Brock's B-day

Today Brock turns 4. I can hardly believe it. His birth was so hectic. We were living in Utah at the time and Robert was offered the job in Idaho Falls 10 days before he was born. We-of course-accepted, and we moved when Brock was 10 days old. That was not my best move. The housing was a mess and even to this day, when I think about where he was born I have to think twice because it was so stressful. But the Lord was with us. My recovery with Brock was nothing short of miraculous. I couldn't believe it. He was an incredibly picky/fussy baby but I was able to keep my patience and know what he needed. He an amazing child even now. He has this ability to be frustrating one moment and turn around and in a heart beat really charm you. I have seen him in action at church. And he usually gets what he wants with the charm factor. I have to say it is quite amazing. He is very stubborn, but this can be the best thing too, It's nice to be around someone who knows what they want. Brock has an amazing pretend world and it's fun to watch him 'play'. He and Ian are great buddies, who have spent the summer as pals. Playing and getting into all forms of trouble-together. It's nice to see them get along. Brock is very excited to be 4 years old and go to preschool this fall. I have to add. That Mom is kinda excited, too!!
We celebrated the boys' birthday on Sunday. It was a combined party. Their birthday's are 10 days apart and with how slow I'm going these days we thought this would be best. It was the first time I have ever done a combined party for the kids, SO I was a little nervous on how it would go. But it was fabulous and they seemed to love it. We did a Transformers themed party. They cake was a hit as well. I have no pictures to post we still haven't replaced our digital. So we're back to the 35mm camera. The boys had a fun time and they are now officially in transformers heaven!!

Reading

On Saturday I went with some friends to pick up the new book out by Stephenie Meyer.

Breaking Dawn.

I think this was my favorite book out of the 4 book series. I thought I had this book all figured out. But I didn't. And that is what I love about it. I do think her writing has matured, but I can't say that I thought her first books were horrible. Breaking Dawn had more going for it- I think. And I have to say that this ending is a very love conquers all kind of thing. AND I LOVE THAT!!

I know that it is pollitically incorrect to have this kind of ending. But I think it's the romantic in me that enjoyed it. I was sure that the wedding was going to drag out the whole book and it was over in the first few chapters, and that was the best part about it. We (the reader) was able to move onto other plot issues. I was definilty on the Team Edward side and I (being a mother) was sad that after marrying him and becoming a vampire she wouldn't have that opportunity, BUT it turned out so GREAT!!

Also, I googled Incubus. It is something real in mythology lore. After I read the book I went online to read some reviews and was shocked to find so many terrible ones. One being that people couldn't get the whole Incubus thing, and that the baby would come out of its mother the way it does. But I checked some mythology and it's real (as far as mythology goes) But my point being Stephenie Meyer, didn't make that part up. So that was interesting. I do have to say that they named the baby a retarded, horendous, idiotic name. I think I cringed the whole time reading over that hybrid of a name, that sounds hideous when spoken aloud. But then again. I'm reading about vampires and werewolves. -as if their names have to be that believable!!

I enjoyed the books. They are exactly what they were written to be-

ENTERTAINMENT-

So read them with that in mind. they aren't supposed to be anything but a fictional tale. Enjoy the books. They were a great summer read!!
