birthday

This is a few years old. But with no camera and my laziness/business I don't have time to scan in the other kind!

Today is Jade's 11th birthday. I call it the Harry Potter Birthday, because I'm weird like that. Eleven is not the year that I typically let the kids have actual friend parties. But for some reason I had a wig out when Brynlee was turning 11 and I let her have a friend party. I think it was due to Alexa still being little and we were dealing with sick kids that week, oh and don't forget my GUILT factor. So I think she got to go to Blast off. Well this year was differant. Not sickness and I guess my guilt wasn't too bad so Jade was able to talk me into a party as well. (of sorts) We let her invite 2 friends over for dinner. Nothing fancy. We let the kids make their own pizza and that was about it. Besides cake, of course. This year the cake kinda sucked. The cake was strawberrry cake with creamcheese frosting. Sounds yummy -right? Well it was, but it was not a masterpiece. It was like one thing wrong after another. My dream was to have a beautiful pink cake with white frosting and pink polkadots. It was all that, but looked like a trainwreck. I should have went with fondant, and I once again misjudged my time.

Why do I do this with cake? Why isn't there someone who would save me and just make my kids gorgeous creations for their special day????? Anyone????? Why do I care so much???? (probably because I have some crazily creative, talented family who can do this very well!)

well, I was running late and I wanted the cake all baked and ready to go when Jade got home from school. So I ran to the store to get some icing/frosting. I grabbed the correct white frosting and then went to get some pink for a polka dot cake. I walked down the isle thinking "don't get icing, get frosting!" But I got so caught up in the brands, tubes, and all the ideas that I went home with icing and didnt' even know it until I went to actually frost the cake and it was to late!! :(

So we went with it.

I dont' think she was sad. It was me who wanted t to be cool and fun for her.

oh well.

Jade is such a fun girl to be around. She's a racoon like me.(She likes bright, shiny, colorful/beautiful things) I get her brain. I think it's actually weird in a way because I remember doing things that she does and I remember the thought process that gets you there. (does that make sense to anyone but me?) She is a great little cook and helper in the kitchen. I can count on her to be the substitute cook when I'm not around. She and Brynlee work really well together and it's fun to see them play together. It's fun to hang out and watch chick flicks with the girls. I love grown up girls.

A little about Jade Elizabeth:
*She was 2 weeks early at birth and by far my smallest baby. She was a whopping 6lb 15 oz. and 20 inches long. She was tiny.

*At 4 months she was 22 lbs.

*She had a super deep voice. She still does when she is angry.

* She loves stuffed animals

*Jade is very self assured

* She is a chamelion. really, that kid can fit in anywhere

* She sleeps like the dead

* She's gonna be tall. like 5'7. I just know it. She's already almost as tall as Brynlee

*She was my shadow and wouldn't leave my side after Brynlee started preschool.

*She was 'the boss' of Brynlee. She called the shots and Brynlee may have even preferred it that way.

*She will accomplish anyting she puts her mind to.

*She loves junk food. really. I think she has a whole set of sweet teeth.

I love this girl.

Happy Birthday!!

gavin's birthday 9-16-08

This post seems to be taking forever to get put together, for that I'm sorry. My life seems to have gone into overdrive this last few weeks. But it seems to be settling into a routine that I can live with. Or more likely, one that I'll have to live with. I can't actually believe that Gavin is already 1 yr. old. I think this may be the fastest year yet with the kids. He isn't walking yet which is suprising to no one but me. It's kinda nice to have a baby that knows he is one. That's new for our house. From the looks of it, I don't think he's in an hurry to start walking either.

My favorite newbie pic.

lounging with Dad at home.

His delivery was one of the hardest. He was 3 weeks early and I felt awful. (but I felt better after his birth!)

He was 8 lbs. 14 oz. and 21 inches long. Gavin Robert was 3 weeks early! I say that's a big baby!! :) Although, it wasn't my biggest, or my longest, the complications were some of the worst. He also came out pretty banged up with the cord around his neck.

I miss that baby.

He is especially sweet because he is my last, and he was a blessing from the LORD. One that we didn't count on, but one that I am grateful for. I'm so glad that the LORD knows what's better for us than we do.

Fall

It seems that I have so much to post about and I don't know where to start. School is back in session. The kids are enjoying the new routine. I enjoy the new routine. But it seems that my mind is still swimming with all the schedule changes that are taking place. I know that it is September and that Gavin's birthday is next week, but yet, I still think it's August. It's happening fast. Alexa starts her preschool this week and the other kids seem to be loving school. YEA!! Brynlee has started Jr. High. She seems to be adjusting well. Actually a little better than I expected. She also starts volleyball this week. I am excited for her. I really, really enjoyed volleyball. Even if she doesn't play in high school it will be a good experience for her. And kids are always playing in intermural sports and at Young womens/men's programs.

Jade seems to like her teacher as well. She has a new teacher and I am still holding out the jury on my decision about it. Ian and Brock still enjoy school so I am not sure why I hesitate? It seems like there should be something else wrong, but alas it's just my own anxiety. Thank goodness.

That's a blessing!!
Between church callings, and kids schedules and Robert's work. Life got busy.
And I am loving it.
really.
I am.
